Although none of us enjoy a vaccine price increase, they are inevitable, particularly if we want development of new vaccines in our future. Merck is doing what they can to give providers additional time to pay for their vaccines at pre-increase prices. MPPG vaccine purchasing group members now get a total of 90 extra days. This is 30 days longer than the previous grace period of 60 days. An example, Merck announced yesterday a price increase on their shingles vaccine, Zostavax, catalogue and contract prices effective April 6th, 2016. Zostavax immunization providers who are MPPG members can still order Zostavax at the old price until and including July 5th, 2016.
