#Thursday Thoughts: Adult immunization rates in the United States are far from what they should be. This article reports that only 42% of those over 18 received an Influenza shot last year. The author effectively describes vaccines as “low hanging fruit” regarding public health dollars well spent that ultimately results in healthcare cost reduction. These poor numbers aren’t necessarily news, however what do healthcare providers believe should be done to improve adult immunization rates? What do payers believe could be done? What do patients think? Shouldn’t there be an easy fix?
