Vaccine hesitancy reduced from 22.6% to 14% with use of parents specially trained as immunization advocates. This new study conducted in Washington state and published in the journal Health Promotion Practice shows how parental peers may have a positive impact on immunization rates. This 3 year community intervention program was conducted where the school vaccination exemption rate 6.3%, was three times the national average.
