At this point in time, vaccine purchasing group contracts are our best option. This is a working business arrangement for manufacturers and physicians since both parties bring something to the table.
Speaking only for our particular vaccine buying group, if practices are willing to offer loyalty to our vaccine partners’ brand, manufacturers offer the lowest possible vaccine price regardless of volume, quantity or “buckets”. It’s that simple.
It is essential that both parties receive something valuable, a profit. This win/win agreement is unfortunately compromised at the point of insurance reimbursement. What is “fair compensation” considering the magnitude of importance this process carries for individuals as well our communities? Bearing in mind the investment of education, training, time, toil, money, trials, equipment, exams, ingenuity, intelligence etc, etc…. perhaps reimbursement should be generous not merely fair.
